How do i replace the light socket on the bottom counter lamps? I have one that is broken in a house i just purchased. Thanks in advance. Bob johnson
For model number JVM3160DF1BB
Hi Bob,
Thank you for your inquiry. before beginning any repair, please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet or turn the circuit breaker off to avoid being electrocuted. To get at the part you will need to get under the microwave. You will need to take off the bottom of the microwave by removing the screws. Lower the panel carefully and disconnect the wire harness going to the light bulbs. Once the wire harness has been disconnected you can remove the panel completely and set it on a padded surface to work on it. Remove the wire harness connected to the light socket. It may be on pretty tight and you may have to get a flat head screw driver to pry it off. There is also a little tab that may be bent over. Take your screw driver and push it in. Then use your screw driver to remove the screw holding it in place. Once the screw is removed you can carefully remove the light socket from the housing. Once it has been removed you may unscrew the light bulb from it and place it in the new light socket. Then carefully put the light bulb and new socket in the housing. Screw it in place and bend the tab to hold it in place. Reconnect the wire harness to the light socket. Set the bottom panel onto the frame and then reconnect the wire harness. Place the panel completely on the bottom of the microwave and screw it back in place. Reconnect the power to the microwave. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Burned out entire socket. Looking to replace and part says socket lamp. Dumb question is that socket complete with bulb and screw in socket? Think there is a left and right bulb need to replace both.
For model number jvm3160df2cc
Hi Dianne, Thank you for the question. This would just be the one socket for the lamp. The lamp is PartSelect Number PS8767095. Hope this helps!

How do I know if the lights on the bottom of microwave are burnt out or if the sockets are bad. The apartment I just moved into has a microwave and the lights that light up the stove top below don't work. The light inside does work.
For model number RVM5160DH2BB
Hi Gayla, thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend testing the Light Socket for continuity with a multimeter. If there is no continuity, replace it with part number PS8753748. If that is not the case, we would recommend replacing the light bulb, part number PS8767095. Please reach out to customer service if you need help placing an order, anyone will be happy to assist you. We hope that helps.
