This condenser fan motor kit is designed for use with refrigerators. This fan draws air through the condenser coils and over the compressor. It does this with the goal of cooling the warm refrigerant before it enters the evaporator. When your fan or fan motor is not working your refrigerator will not cool properly. This is a 2-Watt, 115 Volt motor that rotates the fan in a counter clockwise direction. This kit includes the hardware needed for installation, and a set of instructions. Before you begin any repair work make sure to unplug your appliance.

Sometimes the condenser fan would start causing the refrigerator to overheat.
Unplug the appliance.
Removed the screws holding the back panel.
Removed the fan blade.
removed 3 screws holding the condenser fan.
Remove the 3 metal brackets attached to the fan.
(First note which studs the brackets are attached to. Attach the 3 metal brackets to the new fan. (New screws were supplied)
Cut and strip the wire about two inches from the fan.
Cut and strip the new wire. I cut the new wire in half (about 6 inches.) Connect the two wires, twist and used 2 wire nuts. Tie wrap the wire to the wire harness. Mount the new fan (three screws)
Screw the back panel back on.

Fridge was warm. No air circulating at all. Food was spoiling Fridge was just over 1 year old
First I removed the two screws that secure the guard in bottom back of the freezer and removed it . Next I removed the two screws that secure the guard on the back wall of the freezer and removed it. There are three wires connected to the motor, I unplugged those and removed the two screws that secure the motor and removed it. I swapped the grommets, blade and support bracket from the old motor. The freezer section was working fine. Not properly cooling the refrigerator
I looked on line to see what was causes of the problem and determined that it was probably the fan in the freezer not working. I took the back section of the freezer apart and saw the fan was not running. I checked the parts on line and found that it was availiable and ordered a new fan motor. The blade looked fine, but I ordered a grommet anyway to ensure that there was no vibration problems causing the fan motor to go out. When the fan motor arrived, I began disconnecting the old one after unpluging the refridgerator and noting the terminals for the wires. The wire terminals were in a slightly different location, but reasoned out which wire belonged to the correct location. I pulled the old fan motor out, switched out the fan blade and grommet and re-incerted the new fan motor. I reconnected the wires and re-assembled the rear wall of the freezer. Front bearing had worn so that the fan vibrated causing the noise.
I removed the cardboard back then using a nut driver removed the three mounting screws, removed the old fan/motor and installed the new one, installing the three screws and replacing the cardboard cover.

My big problem was getting the right parts. Don't ever order refrigerator parts using the refrigerator model number. I did and got the wrong part, sent it back and talked to the parts lady and ordered again describing the error, the needed parts shape etc and she sent me the exact part I had sent back. I sent it back and removed the fan motor to get the part number, called and ordered by number and got the right one. Hallelujah! Read more...

Fridge not cooling
The fridge wasnt cooling and freezer was barely operating. We had the same problem in 2005 and the fan that blows cold air into the freezer and fridge was replaced for $200 BY Maytag. We looked up the part and found two choices with different connectors but narrowed it down by the pictures and series #. The part was ordered Sunday and arrived Tuesday for ~80$. To intsall you simply remove food and shelves then 4 nuts that hold back pnael in place. Then release one wiring harness connector to allow the panel to pivot out. After that you can easily release the clips holing the fan cover and then undo two screws to drop assembly out. Two more screw release fan body (you can reuse the fan blade) and one more for the earthstrap. After that follow reverse instructions to reassemble and after ~45 mins the unit was as good a new. Having said that there seems to be a basic design flaw in this maytag unit if fans only last 3-4 years. Still much cheaper than buying a new fridge. Read more...

Quick and Easy Install of Ice Maker Parts
Several days back I found I couldn't get any ice from the ice maker. I was able to hear noise from the ice maker but no ice would dispense. I opened the freezer and removed the ice bucket to find out that the Auger has broken off from it's plastic housing in the back of the freezer. I went to partselect.com to find the part(s) that were broken, it was much easier because of the diagram/images they have for each individual section of the fridge. Parts came quickly and as expected.

The replacement of the auger motor is very easy if you follow these steps:

1 - Remove the ice bucket from the freezer
2 - Unscrew the one screw on the bottom left side of the ice bucket tray (the tray holds the ice bucket in place). I used a small needle nose plier to remove this screw as I was having a hard time with my drill or wrench set. After you've removed the one small screw, lift the tray up and slowly pull towards you.
4 - You'll quickly see that the auger motor and magnetically controlled yoke are connected with a wire harness to the back of the freezer.
5 - Gently crimp the ends of the wiring harness connector with your hand and slowly pry away from the freezer. Once you've removed the wiring harness you can remove the entire tray with the parts attached (yoke/auger)
6 - Unscrew the auger motor from the tray. You'll also have to remove the auger from the motor else it won't come out. In my case the whole plastic attachment was broken so I didn't have to do this (ie I replaced the ice tray as well). It was impossible for me to remove the auger from the auger motor, not sure why the auger was so tightly attached to the motor - it could be the reason the auger motor broke from the ice tray?, so I had to buy a brand new auger motor and auger (ie Auger Drive Motor Kit). I hope you have more luck then I did removing the auger. If you can't remove it you'll need to buy the Drive Motor Kit (which comes with the drive motor, detached auger and auger washer).
7 - Once/if you've removed the auger from the motor and remove the motor from the ice tray, you can proceed with the replacement of motor.
8 - Using needle nose pliers remove the three power connections on the motor (white/neutral?, pink/power?, green/ground, note where the connections were when you removed them because you'll replace them in the same place on the new motor).
9 - Attach new motor to ice tray with the four screws, attach the auger and auger washer to the auger motor, attach the power connections back (white, pink, green).
10 - Re-connect the wire harness to the back of the freezer
11 - Move ice tray back into place, and attach the one screw back to the ice tray to hold it in place.
12 - Replace the ice bucket back onto the ice tray
13 - Done, you should now get ice!
