water dispenser started leaking
i wasn't sure it was the inlet valve unit because the leak was at the water dispenser in the freezer door. after some research it looked like the water inlet valve located in the back lower part of the refrigerator was the problem. to replace, take off the cardboard cover, about 6 screws, you have access to the water inlet valve, disconnect the hoses (i think it goes without saying that you should have turned off the water to the frig) replace the inlet valve, connect hoses, turn water back on and you'll be back in business. very easy repair. PartSelect Number PS371246
Manufacturer Part Number 4387491
This is a plastic tubing insert kit for a refrigerator ice maker. This kit includes a package of four tubing inserts. The kit does not include other parts such as the ice maker water fill tube kit or ice maker fill tube gasket, so consider ordering those parts if necessary. The inserts are used with 1/4-inch plastic tubing. The inserts attach on the end of the water tubing to provide a smooth and solid connection between the water tubing and the clamp that attaches the tubing to the water fill valve. Water leaking from bottom of fridge
The line going from the ice maker fill valve ruptured and leaked water on the floor. The outlet fitting for the ice maker water inside the freezer was plugged with ice which caused the pressure to build up in the line and rupture it. The discharge tube inside was full of ice because the ice maker fill valve was old and was leaking ever so slightly. This allowed water to exit into the discharge tube gradually and build up ice to the point of blocking the discharge tube. Read more...

The tunes were moldy and the pump didn't work.
The repair was fairly easy. Take out screws and lift top of ice maker but do not take off. Having 2 people to do this helps. Clean all parts with calcium deposits. Replace all moldy or broken parts. Some parts are harder to replace. The back screw of the pump is difficult to install. Use a magnetic screw driver for help holding the screw. We used a little wax to keep the screw on the driver. The ice maker works better than it has in 2 years. Read more...

water line cracked
I loosened the compression nut on the valve with my fingers and pulled the water line free from the valve. On the other end, I just pulled it from the hose clamp. Installation in reverse. Force the water line into the fitting on top, Slide the old nut over the line on the bottom. Screw the nut onto the valve. Reach inside the freezer and turn on the ice maker. Done. Before replacing the cardboard grill, you should vacuum the coils on the bottom, front and back. If practical, push it outside and blow it out with an air compressor or a leaf blower. Read more...
