The freezer door gasket creates a seal around the door to prevent warm air from entering the freezer compartment.
Installation Instructions

Condensation freezing on the ceiling of the freezer, indicating the gasket allowing warm air into the freezer.
Do not uninstall the old gasket until you have read all of these instructions. Upon receipt of the new gasket, compare the model number of the GE refrigerator to the paperwork included. Unpack the gasket by hand to ensure not to damage the new gasket. There is no specified top or bottom, left or right to the gasket but there is a front side (to the freezer face) and a back side (attaches to freezer door). Hold the new gasket up to the installed old gasket to ensure the size is identical (close in size WILL NOT work). Once the size is verified, pull the old gasket from the door, starting at any corner. The front side of the gasket is broader than the back side which presses into the door slot. Make sure that the door slot is clean to ensure a perfect fit. Recommend the new install begin at a top corner. Gently press the new gasket into the slot along the top. Do a side next, working the gasket in along the bottom to the last corner. Ensure the freezer face is clean for the best seal. Make sure the new gasket is dry, a wet gasket may freeze and pull the new gasket out! A good seal is verified by the "suction" when trying to open the door. A good seal is also indicated by no moisture/condensation the following day. Read more...

Door gasket was torn at bottom from food residue
When I did the repair, fortunate for me, a nice repairman was fixing my dishwasher. He said to put the new gasket in the dryer, while I removed the old one, to make it pliable and aid in sealing. I pulled the old gasket out of the retainer clip, cleaned around the area and snapped the new gasket into place(push the raised part into the groove). The repairman said that food residue, especially at the bottom, caused a sticky glue-like film to form. He also advised to put smear vaseline on the new gasket and wipe it off to leave a film. This would aid in sealing and keeping new the gasket from sticking. Read more...

Freezer door gasket was torn and loose.
Unplugged refrigerator.Checked that new gasket was the right size for freezer.Opened freezer door and lifted inside edge to access screw's. Loosened top screw's and screw's half way down each side and pulled gasket out. Installed new gasket into slot where old gasket was and tightened screw's across top and the first couple down side's.Lifted edge of old gasket and loosened screw's holding remainder of old gasket in place and finished removing old gasket.Finished putting new gasket in slot and tightened remaining screw's. The reason for only doing gasket half at a time is to keep the door square and not getting out of shape. If new gasket is warped when removed from shiping box run under hot water or soak in hot water until more flexible. Read more...

Old door gasket torn/problematic; moisture in fridge
Referenced a couple of videos first, held up the new gasket to ensure fit, then carefully pulled the old gasket off by hand. Wiped down the ridges/edges of the door, then installed new gasket first on opposite corners then along all sides. Simply pressed in to the door ridges/bracket. Used a putty knife to ensure the edge of gasket was not folded under itself, and the blunt edge of the handle to ensure it was snugly installed all the way around. Didn’t have to remove the door as I had expected to. Very easy and took maybe 30 mins. Read more...

it appears some one damaged the gasket in the front
First, I removed the old gasket by ripping it out of front,

Second, I cleansed the rust (no idea how that get there, maybe it's a cheap fridge)

Third, I took some boiling water from the water boiler and dip the new gasket in it to "smooth" out the gasket and make it more "pliable" (really, it didn't seem like much happened, nonetheless, I did it to make sure I don't have to struggle if it comes to that)

Forth, I slap the new gasket in the top corner (inner edge closes to the fridge) and work across then down. But somehow after everything is accomplished, the gasket at the bottom appears bulged so I re-did it from the bottom up. and double checked on the firmness by checking with a flash light w/ the fridge closed (I made sure I did this near night time lol)

Lastly, I did love to thank PartSelect for shipping it out so quick. I ordered on Sunday, they shipped it on Monday and I received it on Tuesday morning at work. Incredible speedy service that even RadioShack overnight service took 3 "overnights" to recieve.

PartSelect Number PS8758487
Manufacturer Part Number WR24X20456
This part is the replacement fresh food door gasket for your refrigerator. It is made of black rubber and is sold individually. The fresh food door gasket runs along the circumference of your refrigerator’s fresh food door and creates the seal that allows your refrigerator to regulate the temperature inside. If the gasket is worn, stretched, or damaged, your fridge may become too warm, and you may notice the door is sweating. The door also may not open or close properly because of a damaged gasket. To replace the gasket, carefully pull the old gasket out the grooves it fits in around the door. Press the new gasket into the same grooves snugly. This part is an OEM part from the manufacturer.
