The switches failed on both front burners.
Remove nobs from both switches.
Pull out the range (the hardest part).
REMOVE THE POWER PLUG FROM THE WALL
Remove 7 screws with nut driver and take off upper back panel.
Remove 2 phillips screws from front, they hold the switch brackets.
The new switches don't fit in the bracket so discard the bracket keeping the screws.
Removing 1 wire at a time from the old switch transfer to the new noting the letter/number ie "H1 P1" combos they are all there just not in the same places on the new switch.
When wiring is complete, using the bracket ,screws from the front screw on the switches.
Replace the back panel with 7 screws.
In my case the old nobs did not fit the shafts of the new switches. I found some at the local hardware store. I bought 4 for $0.29 each! I expect to be replacing the other burner switches shortly. Read more...

This part is the replacement fan switch or downdraft vent fan knob for your range hood. It measures approximately 2 inches by 1 inch. The fan switch allows you to turn on the range hood fan when it is actuated, which allows the fan to dissipate odors from the cooktop. If, when you hit the button to turn on the fan, nothing happens, then you may need to replace the fan switch. To remove the switch, pull it straight off from its post and replace with the new switch. For safety purposes, be sure to disconnect the range from the power source before you begin this repair. This part is sold individually and is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer.

Broken shaft on downdraft speed switch
The controls are on the glasstop and no way to access them from below, so the glass top has to be removed by removing any straps/braces from below and raising the rangetop housing above the counter height.

The foil tape connecting to the downdraft ductwork will need to be removed. Make sure you have foil tape to reseal this connection.

The black foam tape between the cooktop housing and the countertop will need to be separated with a putty knife. Be sure to have the 1/4” low density foam tape on hand for replacement.

Remove the 6 knobs by lifting them upward and then lift the housing above counter height.

The loosened housing can be supported by two pieces of 1x2 that straddle the opening. The sheet metal screws around the perimeter are easily removed and a putty knife under the glass should release the glass. Once the glass is removed, you’ll see an electrical control box with the 6 switches. The fan switch is held in place with two screws. The switch can then be accessed from the side and replaced. Just note the 4 colored wires and move them to the new switch. There’s a 5th contact that’s unused.

Reassembly is straightforward but you’ll need to remove any remaining foam tape, clean the underside and the countertop before applying the new tape. Read more...

No control of right front burner (dual burner)
The burner would work but you could not regulate the heat. I ordered and replaced the control switch for that burner. The part was like for like and reasonably priced compared to other websites and dealer. The picture showed that it was identical. I ordered one day and it was here the next. I had drawn a diagram of where the wires went on the old switch so it was very easy to replace. Probably took me 15 minutes or so. This part is sold individually and is for ranges. The control switch turns the surface element on and off and determines the temperature of the element. This will need to be changed if the control switch has failed and the cooktop is not turning on. It is found underneath the glass cooktop. Before beginning, make sure the circuit breaker is off. You will need to remove the cooktop from the counter. To do this you will need to go underneath and see what kind of brackets are holding it in place. The brackets will vary depending on the make and model and type of countertop is it laying on. These brackets will need to be removed.

Switch failed
I turned off the circuit breaker and tested the cook top. I pulled the cook top out and laid a piece of plywood over the opening to work on the cook top and not scratch the granite counter top. The mistake I made was to turn the cook top upside down and separate the top from the housing. The dampening springs came off the burners and I could have damaged the elements (but they checked out ok). I turned the whole assembly right side up again and replaced the switch and put it all back together. It works great...thank you for the part. Read more...

Igniter on one burner wasn't working consistently
Fairly easy repair. Remove the grate, then remove the loose fitting burner assemblies. Unscrew 5 screws using Torx (star) screwdrivers - 3 along the ring top and 2 on the inside flat portion of the ring. You'll need 2 different size Torx screwdrivers. Once the screws are removed, lift that piece. It may be stuck from years of baked-on spills, but there's nothing else mechanically holding it. pull off the electrical lead, which is just held with a compression fitting. Use needle-nose pliers to pull off the C-clip holding the igniter in place. Careful not to lose the little spring that the C-clip holds in place, though it's not really under a lot of tension. Change out the igniter and reassemble everything. I used the pliers to push the clip back in place. All set - works like new. Read more...

The shaft on the selector switch broke.
You have to replace the switch if the shaft breaks (I think we hit it with a pot). This is a flat glass cook top. Turn off the power at the breaker box. I took the drawers out below the cook top and loosened the bracket holding the electrical conduit. That allowed me to push up the cook top from below. There is some adhesive but nothing hold it except its own weight and the adhesive. You do not need to disconnect the conduit. Remove all of the knobs. Remove all of the Phillips screws around the upper perimeter. Do not remove any of the hex screws yet. When all of the screws are removed, lift the glass cook top off of the metal "guts." At this point there will only be adhesive holding it on. Now remove two hex screws at each end of the control strip. Remove the two Phillips screws from the subject switch. Lift up the the control strip, disconnect the electric leads to the switch, reconnect the leads to the new switch, and then re-attach the new switch to the control strip with the two Phillips screws. Then go backwards. Replace the control strip and secure with the two hex screws at each end. Before replacing the cook top, check the burners. They rest on posts with small springs designed to keep them flush with the glass cook top. Make sure that all of the burners are properly aligned on their posts and springs. Replace the cook top and re-attach with all of the Phillips screws. Return the cook top to its resting place making sure the adhesive strips are correctly placed around the perimeter. Replace the bracket on the conduit. Put the knobs back on. Flip the breaker back on and start cooking. Read more...

Two igniters inoperable due to bad igniter switches
There are already some very good instructions for this repair on the website - I followed them as written. I recommend going through the instructions carefully first to make sure you have everything you will need and so you know what to expect. Also, if practical I recommend you do the disassembly before ordering the parts so you know exactly what you need. A couple of burner gaskets got messed up during disassembly, so I decided to replace them and ordered a couple along with the harness assembly. A couple of the igniters were difficult to disconnect from the wiring and I was afraid I was going to break some, but managed to get them off intact. The replacement harness assembly didn't look just like the old one that I removed and at first I thought I'd have to exchange it. Check the paper that comes in the box with the harness and it will show how the new one goes on. Everything went back together easily and all igniters are operating. Read more...
