This is a 2100 watt bake element for your oven or range. The element supplies heat from the bottom of the oven to bake or cook your food. You may need to replace the bake element if your oven is not heating properly. Simply remove oven racks to access the bake element. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws that secure the element to the oven body. Electrical wires feature slip-on connectors for easy installation, but be sure to hold the wires forward so the wires do not fall back through the rear of the oven. Unplug your appliance or shut off your circuit breaker to the appliance before installing the new part.

This broil element is found on the roof of the oven and heats food. The most common reasons you would need to replace this part is due to the oven not giving off enough heat, not turning on, or not baking your food at an even temperature. This could be due to the element being burnt out or broken. Make sure to unplug the oven before you begin. You will need to remove the oven from the wall to complete this repair. This is an OEM part that comes right from the manufacturer, ensuring the best quality.

Broil element wasn't working...
I pulled my unit out of the wall and noticed that the insulation around the top broiler element was a bit brown. Closer inspection revealed that the element had shorted somehow to the oven itself and caused the element to become non-functional. I tried measuring the resistance first, and it was within typical values for the other elements, but I decided to replace the element anyway.

I ordered from PD and the part arrived just a few days letter by regular shipping. I undid the screws holding in the element, undid the wire connectors and replaced the broken element with the new one. The element worked like a charm and I was back in business for cooking.

Lower oven would heat to temperature, but would not continue to maintain temperature.
Troubleshoot element by disconnecting the element leads from relay board and test for acceptable resistance across leads. In my case the element had tested open with no resistance.

******You may not need to remove oven depending on how the framing under the oven is constructed.

**** Before you begin, disconnect power from the oven.

1.Remove two screws under oven, directly below rear of element door, and remove the metal piece the screws held in place. This will free up the back of the element access door panel.
2.Remove front trim strip on front bottom of oven, this will expose two screws directly behind trim strip. Remove the two screws behind the trim strip. This will free up the front of the element access door.
3. Lower element access door. If you can open the element door enough to disconnect the element wire leads and get the element out, you can swap out the element now and will not need to pull your oven out of the wall. If you can't open the access panel to fully access and replace element, slide the oven out until you can get the access door open and prop the front of the oven up on something sturdy you have laying around. In my case it was the good old yeti cooler. I would seriously consider removing the oven doors before you slide the oven out. It will make the oven alot less tippy by removing the weight from the front off the appliance. The element wires are short, you may need to disconnect them to get the element access door all the way open.
4. Install the new element and reassemble using these instructions in reverse order.
5. Reconnect power.
6. Make a batch of cookies.

Broiler element burnt out. It literally broke off & emitted white-hot sparks.
NOTE: My Tappan oven (model 77 4972 23) is 33 years old & it was difficult to find the correct part number for the broiler element. Part No. 5303051140 (PS 453940) costs only $18.00 but won't work because the plate that screws onto the oven is only 1.5 inches wide and it needs to be 3.75 inches wide to fit. The part number that works (and costs $89.00) is 220T017P02 (PS429510).

First thing I did was turn off power to the range at the circuit breaker. The repair was generally easy with the exception that 1 screw holding the broiler element support was "welded" into the oven ceiling. I stripped the screw trying to get it out. Fortunately, I had a special tool that allows one to grip the outer edge of the screw while turning it --- and that's how I got it apart. Once the broiler element support was off, I removed 2 screws from the 3.75 inch plate holding the broiler element itself to the oven wall and carefully pulled the broiler element out from the oven wall and detached the wire clips connecting the wires to the broiler element. I reattached the clips onto the new element and installed the new element back into the oven wall. I then reattached the broiler element support using a another screw (because I decimated the original one). I then turned the circuit breaker back on and turned the broiler on. Voila. My broiler works again! Special thanks to the people at this site who were very helpful in seeing to it I got the correct broiler element. The original ordered broiler element was delivered to the wrong address. The folks at this site sent me another one. To make a long story short, they saw to it I got the correct part. I highly recommend this site based on my experience with them. GREAT customer service!!
