Dryer timer spun around therefore dryer would not start.
PULL PLUG ON DRYER. Took off upper back panel with adj. wrench.
Took a picture with cellphone. Took off old timer secured with one screw. All wires still attached at this point.Pulled off about 5 or 6 connectors one by one. Took off first connection and replaced that first connection to new
timer. Took off second connection and put that connection on new timer.
I followed this same pattern until all wires were replaced one at a time-to the timer.
The picture was just for reference. Put metal timer back on with screw.
I did learn whenever replacing a timer also replace the knob connected to the timer i.e. the circular part turned with your hand.

This dryer timer is an authentic OEM replacement part for dryers. It is responsible for controlling the duration of the drying cycles to ensure that clothes are dried efficiently. Over time the timer may fail due to regular wear tear, electrical failure, or physical damage to the timer itself. If you notice that the dryer is unable to start or complete a drying cycle or runs longer or shorter than programmed then this is a sign that that timer is malfunctioning. You may also notice difficulties turning the timer knob. You can find the timer behind the control panel of your dryer.

This timer is supplied directly by the manufacturer for use in dryers. It controls the duration of the drying cycle, and it regulates the various stages of the drying process, such as the drying time, cooldown period, and when to stop the cycle. It has a series of cams or switches that engage and disengage different dryer functions. If the dryer timer is faulty, the dryer may fail to start, or advance through the drying cycle, stop midcycle, or run indefinitely. Additionally, the timer knob may become loose or difficult to turn, or the timer may make unusual clicking or buzzing noises. If you notice any of these signs, you should replace the timer.

Dryer timer very hard to turn resulting in a stripped knob
My GE electric dryer timer became very difficult to turn and eventually stripped the knob. First I unplugged the dryer. Then removed the upper back panel exposing the timer. There is only one small allen screw plus built in slots holding the timer. There are many wires connected to the timer so I took a picture just in case. I removed the timer and let it hang by the wires. I then pulled one wire at a time and reattached it to the new timer. All went well and the dryer works like it was new again. The most difficult thing was replacing the small screw holding the timer. I then replaced the back panel and attached the new knob. There’s no need for a professional repair person for this problem. From start to finish was less than 30 minutes. Read more...

This is a genuine OEM replacement timer (60Hz) for your dryer. To complete this repair you will need a #2 Phillips screwdriver. To access the timer, you will need to remove the top of the back panel. Disconnect the wires to the timer terminals, remove the timer knob, and unclip the timer from its metal tab. Replace with the new timer and reassemble the wires and remaining parts. Make sure to disconnect power to the dryer before beginning this repair.

START knob and plastic underneath broken
It was so incredibly simple! The site made it foolproof to find the right parts - and the actual replacement job itself was easier than we ever could have imagined. Background: I love to do laundry - I mean A LOT! So - I use the washer and dryer every night to wash the familie's clothing and blankets and towels. After heavy use - the outer knob stripped out. We threw it away and were using pliers to turn the small plastic knob underneath. After a few months - that plastic wore down and we could not turn it on at all! Read more...

Timer knob cracked twice. Found out the timer switch was bad.
Removed the 3 knobs. They just pull off. Removed 6 screws on the back side of the control panel. The front (plastic panel then just separates from the back). Then look at how the switch is mounted on the plastic panel. There should be 2 small pieces of plastic that holds it in. Carefully twist the switch in the appropriate direction so it comes free. Before you remove any wires from the old switch remember what colors go where ! I used needle nose pliers to remove the connections from the switch. Make the new connections, mount the switch, put the screws back in the panel. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING. UNPLUG THE ELECTRICAL CORD !!! Read more...

This is a timer for various models of dryer. The timer within your dryer is responsible for the length of the drying cycle. If your current dryer timer does not turn or rotate well, or if its position makes no difference on the length of the cycle, it will need to be replaced. To replace this timer, you will need a screwdriver and set of needle-nose pliers. This timer is an OEM part and does not come with any other parts, such as the knob or dial that attaches to it, so consider that before ordering.

Frozen timer
1. Remove three screws from back of dryer
2. Tilt top panel forward and disengage
3. Swapped wiring one by one from old timer to new timer
4. Reinstall

The new timer worked so well that even the old, broken knobs could turn it. But I replaced the knobs anyway.

Customer service was great in helping me verify that this timer would work on this dryer (my model number was not listed on the website).
