This is a refrigerator ice guide that is made entirely of clear plastic. This ice guide is located in the freezer door. Turn your refrigerator ice dispenser off before replacing the part. This is a simple repair, and the only tool you will need is a small flat blade screwdriver to push on the pivot tab on the bottom of the ice guide. Do not worry about breaking the side or pivot tabs on your existing ice guide because it will be discarded anyway. This is a genuine manufacturer replacement part.

External Ice Guide Broke a Tooth and Fell Off
We waited two years to do this because we didn't want to hassle with a repair man to come out and charge us arm+leg for something so simple. Finally we searched and found the part on line. It came two days FASTER than promised. Kudos to Part Select.
Snapping it on was a breeze, although you do have to apply more pressure than feels comfortable with plastic clips. We can know get ice out of the external door system again.

Water actuator broke
If you think you probably can't do this, you're like me... but you just had to try because you needed the part anyway right? This really was quite simple, a lot easier than it sounds from the description and saved me probably $75 I'd have had to pay a tech to do it. Just unplug fridge, yank that water spill tray out, yes yank, it's a bit hard to do that if you've not done it before. After that remove the 3 phillips head screws you just gained access to. Lift panel frame up then out. Disconnect wire harness plug and set that frame aside. Take out next screws exposed to free the unit. Tilt unit out and remove the two little screws and shims holding actuator in place. Remove broken one. Put new one in. Reverse all actions taken thus far. Plug fridge back in and have a drink of water like nothing ever happened. : ) You can do this! Read more...

Water dispenser not working, Ice dispenser chute icing up
I removed the outer ice/water dispenser cover following directions I found on-line (push down and gently pry out at the bottom). I then removed several nut-head screws which were holding a plastic plate which had the door light and electric control wiring mounted in it. Behind that I found a broken tab on the Control Bracket which was why my water dispencer was not working and I found the chute door for the ice maker was chewed up which allowed warm air into the chute and was causing my ice build up problem. Replacing the Control Bracket was easy. Just note how things come apart. Putting the chute door in was a little more complicated, but again, note how things come apart and you should not have a problem putting it back together. Read more...

The actuator arm broke on the unit and it had to be replaced
The actuator arm was the only part that was a little difficult. The drip tray and the kick plate went on very easily. First, we went online to your schematic on the unit. This showed how it was assembled and how it came apart. We then terminated the power to the refrigerator, and removed the drip tray which exposed two screws holding in the face plate for the ice/water on the door of the refrigerator. We then removed three screws from the control panel and pulled it forward. This exposed the actuator and two more screws that held it into place. We removed them and unplugged the small plug giving power to the actuator. We then installed the new part and replaced all the screws that had been removed. We reassembled the face plate and the screws there and then snapped in the drip tray. When we turned on the power everything worked fine. Read more...

The water dispenser/actuator broke and I wanted to replace it
First I pulled the fridge out and unplugged it. Then I removed the drip tray at the bottom of the water and ice dispenser. This exposed three screws that held the frame of the dispenser mechanism to the freezer door. I removed the three screws and lifted it up a little and I could pull it out and tip it to get at the inside of the dispenser mechanism. I could pull the whole mechanism out a bit, but I was afraid to pull it out too far for fear of unplugging something and tearing or breaking a wire. The water dispenser actuator piece has two round plastic "pins" on either side to allow the actuator to rock back and forth. These "pins" are held in place in a round channel by two metal plates which were in turn held in place by two screws. When I tried to take out these retaining plates, I dropped one of the screws in the dispenser mechanism. I had to fish it out with a magnet. By the way, the plates did not respond to a magnet, so when I dropped one of these, I had to use needle-nosed pliers to fish it out. It took a while, but I finally got the old actuator out and out the new one in and carefully re-attached the retaining plate with their respective screws and re-attached the little spring to the actuator. Before I put it back together, I cleaned off the little door to the ice dispenser. It looked a little crudded up and I just wiped it off with some damp Q-tips. I then put the dispenser mechanism back on to the freezer door, put the screws back, slid the drip tray back, plugged it in and it (surprisingly) works fine. Looking back, I probably should have bought a part for the ice dispenser, too, and replaced that at the same time. Read more...

PartSelect Number PS1526380

This is the ice actuator or ice actuator arm for your refrigerator. When you depress the actuator arm with a glass or bucket, ice is normally dispensed. If your current actuator arm is broken, missing, or if the ice dispenser isn’t dispensing ice, you may need to replace it. To access the actuator, you will first need to remove the dispenser assembly, and then remove the actuator from the assembly. Be sure to shut off the water and power source from your refrigerator before you begin this repair.

Installation Instructions

"Paddle" on ice actuator broke off.
Slide off drip tray at bottom of ice/water compartment.

Remove the 3 screws along bottom edge of face plate. Slide face plate upwards slightly to disengage tabs holding top of face plate to fridge door. Pull face plate slightly away from fridge, reach behind plate, and disconnect wiring harness. Set face plate aside.

Remove 3 screws holding ice/water actuator mechanism to fridge door. Disconnect wiring harness on left side of actuator mechanism. This allows the left side of mechanism to swing outwards.

Looking down on top of mechanism, loosen the two screws holding the small, metal retaining plates for ice actuator. (The metal plates hold the ice actuator pivot pins in place in the actuator mechanism). Once the two screws are loosened, the metal plates can be moved to the side to free the ice actuator.

Remove old ice actuator and replace with new actuator. NOTE: Ensure the black ice door flap regulator (the thing with the gear teeth) stays engaged with the gear on the damping mechanism while installing the new ice actuator).

Move the metal retaining plates back in place over the ice actuator pivot pins and tighten both screws. Move the ice/water actuator mechanism back in place and re-connect the wiring harness on the left side. Re-install the 3 screws holding the entire mechanism in place.

Re-connect the wiring harness to the face plate and slide the tabs at the top of the plate into the holes in the fridge door. Slide face plate down and line up the 3 screw holes at the bottom of plate. Re-install the 3 screws. Re-install the drip tray. You're done!

The module cover was broken when it was removed improperly
I simply unscrewed the original and replaced it with the replacement. It was very easy. I did have to order the label as the original one would not come off to be re-used. Hopefully, that will go on easily as well. Read more...
