The dryer took at least 3 rounds to dry light clothes and 4-5 for towels.
This was my second time making repairs. The only difference this time I replaced all parts from top to bottom. When I pulled the heating element out only one coil was working the others had burned out. It was easy to do and the videos on the site are very helpful and informative. I followed the steps and if I thought I missed a step I replayed it again. I am a woman and found it very easy and not at all intimidating at all. I am going to hopefully have it for another 10 yrs. Timer stopped working
Well I unplugged the dryer, then I removed all the screws off the back of the main console. After that I unscrewed the old timer. Then I one by one moved the wires from the old timer control to the new timer control. Then i screwed in the new timer control. After that I screwed the back plate for the main console back on. And finally I plugged the dryer back in. And there you go it was that easy.


I also wanted to say that this experience with parts select was most amazing one too. I ordered the part one day with a 3 to 5 day delevery time. The following day I checked on the status and found out that the part would be here the next day so I was really amazed that it would be that quick. I would recommend and would come back to parts select for futuer needs for appliance parts. Read more...

Heating element staying on all the time.
Well - I'd taken my clothes out of the dryer and put them on the pool table and went upstairs to go to bed. I thought at last moment to go pee first and ran back down stairs. Downstairs I smelled the odor of burning lint. When I looked into the laundry room, my dryer was glowing red hot - Sweet! It seems that the heating element was staying on even though the dryer was off. I looked in the various descriptions of myriad failures of dryers and didn't find that one in the documentation at all. So - I replaced the thermal fuse, the Thermal cut-off and the timer. Alas - the replacement timer had to be replaced because the clock motor was defective. When the second replacement timer arrived, it was quickly installed. Long story short - if the timer is in any play mode, the heating element stay on full blast - not low, not medium, but full on chub - and this is whether the fan or tumbler are on or not, door open or not. And so the mystery anomaly remains un-repaired, unresolved and perhaps even, undiagnosed. Note - the new Thermal Cut Off does not cut off anything even when it cookin red hot. Strange. Read more...

Dryer cycle would never end
I furst unplugged the dryer. I pulled the knob off the timer and removed the screw holding the timer to the front panel. I then removed the hex nuts holding the steel panel on the upper portion of the dryer from behind and removed the cover. I located the timer and removed two more screws holding the timer onto the main housing. From there it was as easy as removing each color coded wire and relocating the wires to the new timer. I resecured the new timer in the reverse order and plugged the dryer back in. It couldnt have been any easier! Read more...

Dryer Would Not Heat
Unscrewed about 6 or 7 screws from the control panel in the back of the dryer, located the timer,unscrewed two screws holding the timer,pulled the connections from terminal, wire for wire and put everything back in reverse order.Simple!!! But that was not my problem, my problem was that I made a rush to judgement.The parts I really needed was a one time use thermal fuse & a cycling thermostat. Read more...

Dryer Would Not Shut Off On Its Own
Ordered my part from partselect. Com (even easier than installation) unpluged the dryer,removed all knobs from face plate ,removed three phillips head screws across top ,removed two 5/16 head screws from timer( behind cycle knob) tilted back face plate unpluged one wire at atime from old timer placed back on new timer then reverced the process. Gas Dryer timer did not advance or shut off
Replaced timer initially -- pull plastic cap off the timer cover and unscrew bolt, which allows you to remove timer easily. reconnect all wires and bolt back in same steps as removal.

Turned out to be the control panel, easily removed control panel with socket driver, change out all wires and reconnect.

Intermittent Operation
First, let me say I am absolutely not an appliance expert by any means. In fact, I figured out what part I needed by reading others comments on this site!! Repair was very easy. I disconnected the dryer from the wall plug. Used a socket set to remove the access panel where the dryer timer was. Then before I removed the old timer I took the wires off and connected the new one to make sure I put them on properly. I used a small pair of pliers to remove a few of the wires since a few were snug. Then I simply removed the timer dial from the front, removed the old timer(2screws), and installed the new one. Finally, replaced the rear panel and plugged it back in. Worked like a champ!!! No more wiggling the dial to try to get it to turn on. AND, the wife was most impressed and very happy!!! Read more...
