Ice bin overfilling
I'm an hvac/r technician, and regularly work on ice machines. Begin my pulling the white over beneath the control panel. It snaps in place so pull on the bottom then left out. 1/4 nut driver is all you need, and remove the screw holding the bin thermistor clip to the side. Up to the right , beneath the control panel, behind the plastic panel you previously removed is the mollex connector. Unplug the thermistor and follow instructions in reverse to reinstall. Grid Assembly had a broken wire and would not separate the ice sheets into cubes
I removed the 2 screws on each side of the grid and disconnected the electrical plugs attached to the grid. I slid the broken unit out. I then carefully slid the new unit in making sure not to pinch any of the electrical wires. I replaced the mounting screws, plugged the 3 connectors back into place and turned the ice maker back on. I had ice cubes within a couple of hours Read more...

Whirlpool Ice Maker Icemaker Control Assembly
★★★★★
★★★★★
26 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS2341896
Manufacturer Part Number W10190935
The “Icemaker Control Assembly” (Module & Motor Assembly, Ice Maker Control Module, Icemaker Module, Refrigerator Ice Maker Module) is what controls the actions of your ice maker. The control turns the timing cams and the ejector blades. It controls most of the basic parts and functions such as the heater, water inlet valve, the cube size, and cube ejection. If your ice maker control is broken it can no longer properly control the ice maker functions. It may not produce any ice, make small ice cubes, or have intermittent operation. This can occur due to normal wear and tear. The icemaker control assembly is attached to the ice maker mold, and is under the white cover. Test the icemaker control assembly by using a multimeter. If this reveals the assembly to be defective, you will need to replace this part. It is approximately 4.25 inches square, beige, and is constructed of plastic and metal. This replacement part features one icemaker control assembly, including the control module and the motor.

The Bearing Cup Assembly was broken and ice would jamb against it during the ice making cycle.
I removed the ice maker from the refrigerator, by removing one screw on the underside bracket and loosening the two screws at the top side, then lifting the ice maker off the loosened screws. I then unplugged the electrical harness that supplies power from the refrigerator to the ice maker. I then disassembled the ice maker by removing the front cover which is snapped in place, then removing two recessed screws at the front. I removed the broken part, I then reassembled the ice maker with the new part. I replaced the two recessed screws at the front and snapped on the cover. Then I reinstalled the ice maker in the refrigator by plugging in the harness, slipping the ice maker over the loosened screws in the refrigerator and replacing the screw that was removed from the underside bracket. Tightening all the screws completed the project. Read more...

Whirlpool Ice Maker Ice Mold
★★★★★

13 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS11749915
Manufacturer Part Number WPW10190929
This is an ice maker mold and heater assembly for a refrigerator ice maker. It is used with modular style icemakers and is located in the freezer section of the refrigerator. This ice mold is flake resistant which prevents the coating on the mold from flaking into the ice cubes when the ice mold begins to wear. The ice mold forms the ice cubes and the heater allows the ice cubes to fall from the ice mold to drop them into the ice bucket. You will need to remove the ice maker from the refrigerator to access the mold and heater assembly. This is a genuine replacement part.

Ice maker mold was cracked and leaking water into the bin which then froze all the cubes together.
I removed the ice maker assembly from the freezer compartment (four nuts/ nut driver) and unplugged the wire harness. I discovered the nature of the problem and I went on the Internet to look for replacement parts expecting I'd have to buy the entire ice maker. When I found PartSelect.com I looked through the pictures of the parts available for my ice maker. I found the correct part quickly and easily. And having an acurate photo on the site, I was able to match all the key features of the mold I had with the one on the screen. I ordered the part, and installed it the day it arrived with just a Phillips screwdriver and a nut driver. It functions perfectly. Read more...

Ice Maker Making Large Block of Ice, Level Broken, Pantry Cover broken
Pantry Cover:

I just slided out the tray, and unscrewed the left pantry panel that was broken, and replaced it with the new one, then put in the new cover after sliding the trays back in.

Ice Maker:

I unplugged the power connector in the back, unscrewed the ice maker with a flat screw driver (3 screws), slide it out, and then unplugged the wiring from the old ice maker and put it into the new one, mounted the new ice maker back in, make sure the lever is working, and then closed the freezer to let it cool down so that water can start flowing to it when it becomes cold enough (took about a good hour or so before water started filling the ice maker). Once the freezer was cold enough, water started filling the ice maker, and it begin making ice again.
